Last night I finished the red and white stripes portion of the American Flag afghan.  Now I need to whipstitch together the hexagon stars into the blue star field.  Then attach that to the stripes section and lastly crochet a border all the way around the edge.

I wanted to drink some hot tea so I decided to whip up a little cup cozy with some scrap yarn.  I just searched for patterns on YouTube and followed the instructions.  I decided to add a little flower and I think it came out cute.

I worked on my American flag afghan last night.  I did a few rows but then noticed a mistake and ended up taking out a row to go back and fix it.  I should be done with the stripes portion by the weekend.  Then I can attach the hexagon stars together to create the blue star field.  I am hoping to be done with everything but the border this weekend.

This WIP is going to be a girl elf that I would like to finish to give to my granddaughter before Christmas.  The pattern is by Sara Sach and she calls it Christmas Elf.  Sara is the creator of Posh Pooch designs and has lots of great tutorials on YouTube.

Another WIP that I have with me is a 12 point star baby afghan.  The yarn I am using is a Caron Cake in the colorway Strawberry Kiwi.  I am going to keep adding rows until measures about 40" in diameter.

The first project that I want to get done is an American Flag Afghan that I am making to give to a former co-worker.  She has a son in the marines and wanted to give this to him.  She offered to pay me but I wouldn't let her as I really appreciate his service to our country.  This is a pattern from Leisure Arts called All American Afghan.  I am using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in the colors Cherry Red, Soft Navy, and Soft White.  I think I am going to add a single crochet border in a gold color.  I only have 8 more rows to finish the stripes and I have all of the hexagon star pieces done.  I have to attach the hexagons together to make the star field rectangle that will then be attached to the stripes.  I really hope to have it finished in a couple of weeks.
I have decided to go on a yarn diet.  The amount of yarn I have is getting ridiculous.  Basically a yarn diet is where you do not purchase any more yarn unless you need it to finish a project.  Right now the majority of my yarn is actually in a storage unit as I am currently living with my oldest daughter and her husband and my three grandchildren.  We are renovating half of their garage into a "mother-in-law" suite.  It is just half of a small two car garage and in effect is going to be a tiny home for me.  Anyway I do have several partially completed projects with me and will soon be sharing photos and descriptions of all of them.  Then I will post photos and updates on my progress.
